Introduction To Elder Financial Abuse

Friday, October 26th
3:30 pm – 4:45 pm

An introduction to elder financial abuse is meant for a non-law enforcement audience. It includes information on the dynamics of elder abuse more generally, how to identify elder financial abuse in its most common forms, how to respond to abuse, and the most common outcomes. Other topics include powers of attorney, joint bank accounts, guardianships, and other potential financial pitfalls for vulnerable adults. Finally, the role of Adult Protective Services, law enforcement, and prosecutors will be discussed with a focus on the victim’s well being and practical results.
