Last fall we put a call out to our membership and you came. At the 2015 Fall Conference we met with Jean Doss and created a plan. We wrote letters to our legislature and flooded their mail boxes with information. They listened and contacted us wanting to know more. We met with key representatives and explained the plight that we are suffering. They said we could not do it.

The last two conferences were the most attended in MGA history. We came together determined to have our voices heard. To speak on behalf of those who couldn’t. To give them a chance at a better life. This spring Representative Henry Yanez came to applaud MGA for all of our efforts. We were told that while we were getting noticed in Lansing our problem was minuscule compared to the Flint Water Crisis and the trouble Detroit Public Schools were facing. They told us not to get our hopes up, that it could take years. That we could not do it.

What they didn’t know is that guardians are some of the most determined individuals on the planet. Whether it meant incessant phone calls to representatives, letters, emails and meetings we would make sure they knew who we were. That if it meant calling every person at the Capital, or waiting out side offices for hours on end only to get a 10 minute conversation in the rain, they would know who we were.

And it all paid off.

The Michigan Guardianship Association is proud to announce that effective October 1, 2016 the Medicaid rate has been raised to $83.00 a month.

Mark your calendars and join us for the 2016 Fall Conference at the Four Points Sheraton in Kalamazoo Michigan on October 21, 2016 where we will begin phase two of our fight to SAVE MI GUARDIANS!
